Sports Nutrition :: Supplements

In today’s world we can get overwhelmed with the choices of what, when and how to eat. New diet books are published every day, resulting in a lot of difficult and confusing choices. How do we know what is right for us, for our bodies and for our lifestyles?

What should runners and athletes eat?

runnerThe high-protein, low-carbohydrate diets we see everywhere today are in fact not optimal for anyone training as a runner and athlete. Carbohydrates are vital for the efficient functioning of the body, and they are our most cleanly burning fuel. The key is to know which kinds of carbohydrates are best for you, how much of them you should eat, and when. In addition, the amounts and kinds of protein and fat you take in are also important to keep your body functioning at its best. At Sophros Fitness, I believe that foods in themselves are not bad or evil (I’ve been spotted with a jar of M&Ms on my desk) but that it's the amount and frequency you eat them that makes the difference.

Personalized Nutrition Counseling

I'll work with you individually to determine your dietary history and nutritional habits, and together we’ll develop an eating plan to support your lifestyle as a runner and athlete. I strive to make it as easy and appealing  to you as possible, and to help you create long-lasting and healthy changes in your eating habits that will benefit your running and the rest of your life. We’ll keep in touch via weekly emails or phone calls, and I'm always available to answer questions or concerns you might have.
